Commission artist is someone who is hired by a client to paint artwork based off their request.

How does it work? The artist collaborates with you to develop ideas on what you want painted.  This is when the size, color palette, and pricing are established.  It’s much easier than you think.

❤️This is a loyal client that asked me to paint something I’d never tried before. They found a large print of flowers they loved but they wanted an original with texture and depth. So I did a little research and figured out how to do it. They wanted a large canvas of flowers in a particular color palette with texture.  It was for the new baby’s room. It’s their first baby and it’s a little girl. She envisioned the art to be the focal point above the bed.  I’m sure you can understand the idea.

The key to the texture was gesso.  I primed it and painted it on thicker than a snicker.  Then I painted different flowers with with the gesso and color acrylic.  It took forever to dry but once it did, I put a clear coat of gesso to shine it up! She was thrilled. I was thrilled, and she got what she wanted.
